The longest fish in the world
The longest fish in the world
An oarfish can easily be mistaken for a sea serpent, but they are really the longest bony fish in the sea, growing to fifty feet or more in length. The longest oarfish alive according to the Guinness Book of World Records is 36 feet in length.

Love the look of the first photo (from which comes the thumbnail). The lidless, wide, wild-eyed-looking stare of the fish seems to looking at the camera as if to say, "Okay guys. Joke's over. Ha ha; please put me back in the water, now."

That's one ugly fish. It even has bangs. Kind of cool though. Maybe this is the fish that others mistake as the lockness when swimming just under the surface.
